Post-Extraction Aftercare Instructions
First 24 Hours
-
Hands Off: Do not touch, pick, or squeeze the treated areas. Your pores are currently open and vulnerable to bacteria from your fingers, which can lead to breakouts or scarring.
-
Keep the Skin Clean: Avoid applying makeup for at least 24 hours. If you must use a phone, sanitize the screen or use headphones to keep it away from your cheeks.
-
Avoid Heat & Sweat: Skip the gym, sauna, steam rooms, and hot showers. Excessive heat and sweat can irritate the extraction sites and cause inflammation.
-
Fresh Bedding: Sleep on a clean cotton pillowcase tonight to minimize bacterial transfer while you sleep.
Skincare Routine
-
Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, non-exfoliating cleanser and lukewarm water. Avoid scrubbing the skin.
-
Hydrate & Protect: Apply a soothing moisturizer to support the skin barrier.
-
Sun Exposure: Your skin is more photosensitive after extractions. Avoid direct sun exposure.
-
Active Ingredients: Pause the use of Retin-A, retinol, vitamin C serums, and chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHAs like glycolic or salicylic acid) for the next 3 days. Let the skin's natural healing process take priority.
What to Expect
-
Redness: Slight redness or localized swelling is normal and typically subsides within a few hours to a day.
-
Minor Crusting: Some extraction sites may develop a tiny crust. Do not pick these; they will naturally shed as the skin heals underneath.
